About

I was born in Syracuse, Italy, an ancient city placed in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Since I can remember I've always been fascinated by art. My house was filled with paintings and my father used to listen to a lot of 70s music, so I did too.

Music is a major source of inspiration and part of my creative process. I've played drums and made music for over 30 years and I worked as sound engineer for a big part of my life.

I've always been involved in some sort of creative activity. I worked for more than a decade in papermaking and for a few years in video editing. At various points in my life my interest extended to drawings and paintings until one day I decided to delve deep into visual arts and eventually Tintoo was born.

My work comes from the idea of duality. My vision is about the contrast between a deep longing for a free and unruled expression and the urge for strict discipline. In the same way I like my illustrations to host unrestrained and chaotic doodles along with tidy and geometrical shapes. Chaos and order, abstraction and concrete perception of reality. Two antagonistic ideas desperately seeking to connect and talk to each other. In my works I explore the world of connections; connections lost, severed, healed. Re-establishing links is part of a process of growth and redemption, a significant aspect of my life and my art.

Art for me is a means for transcending the limits of physical world trough imagination. I like to be exposed to as many forms of creativity as possible. This makes me feel alive and feeds me with resources i can metabolize, manipulate, transfigure and express through my work.
I want my art to take people places where they have never been before. This is the same thing i seek from the art I love. Artists capable of providing a unique interpretation of reality like H.R.Giger, Z.Beksinski, H.Bosch, D.Cronenberg and D.Lynch have had a great influence in my life. This is what I'm hoping to communicate to people with my artworks.

I currently live and work in London - UK.
